Case 1: Picking the GBP Right Business Categories

Your Google Business Profile (GBP) is critical to your Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategy over time so we’re going to break down what you need to do to optimize your profile in a series of short emails. 

A GBP “Business Category” does 3 things:

  1. Provides specific info to Google users about what your business does.
  2. Helps Google users find you if they’re looking for your type of business.  Example: It would help if you picked “Tractor Dealer” as a category if you sell tractors.
  3. Helps you rank higher against your competition especially if they don’t use the right categories.

So, if you sell tractors and other agricultural equipment, it would be smart to consider these categories:

  1. Tractor Dealer
  2. Tractor Sales
  3. Farm equipment supplier
  4. Farm shop
  5. Lawn Mower Store
  6. Ploughs and Tillers
