Fast Facts about North Carolina’s Hispanic Community

Last year, North Carolina’s Hispanic population surpassed one million residents.  Here are a few facts about the Hispanic community in North Carolina:

  • From 2010 to 2018, the Hispanic community in North Carolina has grown at a rate of 24.6 percent. This is much faster than the nationwide growth rate of 18.6 percent. In fact, 98 out of 100 North Carolina counties have seen an increase in Hispanic residents.
  • One-Quarter of the North Carolina Hispanic population lives in Mecklenburg and Wake Counties. Specifically, Mecklenburg is home to 148,000 Hispanics, and Wake is home to 113,000. These are the ideal locations for effective Hispanic marketing in the state of North Carolina.
  • Siler City has the largest Hispanic population in the state of North Carolina, according to a 2020 study. This Hispanic population makes up 42.5 percent of the city’s total population. The city of Monroe, North Carolina, comes in second with just under 30 percent of the population being of Hispanic ethnicity.
  • If you are a dealership in Monroe, North Carolina, you have over 138,000 Hispanics within 25 miles of your dealership and 1/4 million within 50 miles.  About half of that population is of Mexican origin while the rest are from Central America, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Cuba respectively.
